School In A Bag

Inspired by an excellent presentation by Luke Simon of School In A Bag, local business referral group Lynx 2 Business donated £250 to the charity at their breakfast meeting on Tuesday. Members, who meet weekly, voted unanimously to take a holiday on the Tuesday following the most recent bank holiday and donate the £10 per head that normally pays for their breakfast to School In A Bag.

School in a Bag is a local initiative that delivers rucksacks full of stationery and other resources to poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster-affected children. The charity developed through the work of the Piers Simon Appeal has distributed over 68,000 School Bags to children in 32 countries.

The latest consignment of bags which Lynx 2 Business members helped to pack on Tuesday are destined for Haiti where the devastation caused by hurricane Matthew has wreaked havoc and where urgent work to rebuild communities flattened by the storms and support education is vital.

Moved by the event Graeme Hyde of Remous Print reflected on social media, “I felt very humbled today. Filled a School In A Bag bag for child victims of the Haiti disaster. Putting in the contents, realising the next time it is to be opened is by a child, who has suffered more anguish than we are ever likely to see in our life times gives you immense pleasure”
